HISTORY OF THE PIONEER VALLEY FIDDLERS
The Pioneer Valley Fiddlers were the inspiration of a Western Massachusetts health practitioner and fiddler, Chris Keenan, in 1992. Through her tireless efforts, this non-for-profit club has grown throughout the years to become an important part of the Pioneer Valley fiddle scene teaching and performing traditional New England fiddle tunes throughout region. In addition, Chris has organized and continues to run the Blandford Fiddle Contest whose mission is to maintain and preserve the New England style of fiddle music.

The Pioneer Valley Fiddlers (PVF) have recorded two CD's and will be working on a third one after they return from their upcoming performance Walt Disney World performance in October, 2008. The group meets every Tuesday in Westfield. Membership is free. PVF members regularly compete throughout New England and PVF alumna, Colleen Perry, represented New England at the National Fiddle Competition in Weiser, Idaho. For her work with the PVF, founder Chris Keenan, recently received the Hometown Hero award by Reminder Publications. She was also honored by Westfield State College for her dedication to the greater community through her work with the PVF and has recieved a citation for her leadership by the Massachusetts State Legislature.
